My Professional Journey

My journey in neurosurgery has been shaped by curiosity, discipline and a deep respect for every patient who places their trust in me. From my early days as a medical student in Assam to training at premier institutes like NIMHANS and the Montreal Neurological Institute, I have always believed that neurosurgery is not just about operating—it is about restoring dignity, independence and hope. I have been fortunate to train under some of the finest neurosurgeons in India and abroad, learning both traditional open techniques and the most advanced minimally invasive and robotic approaches. My special interest in epilepsy surgery grew from seeing how life-changing seizure control can be for young people and their families.

With over a decade of experience, I have focused on building comprehensive epilepsy surgery programmes, combining careful evaluation, advanced imaging, robotic Stereo-EEG and minimally invasive techniques such as LITT. Alongside clinical practice, I have also been actively involved in academic and training responsibilities. I had trained DNB Neurosurgery residents through regular clinical teaching, conceptual lectures and close supervision of neurosurgical procedures. I have also guided paramedical staff and medical officers in operative and perioperative care, while working to establish and maintain high standards of quality healthcare delivery. In my daily practice, I am responsible for the comprehensive management of neurosurgical patients across OPD, inpatient wards, emergency services and neuro–intensive care units, ensuring continuity of care from first consultation to recovery.

I strongly believe in a patient-centric, multidisciplinary approach, where decisions are made after detailed evaluation, evidence-based practice, and careful planning with neurologists, radiologists, rehabilitation specialists and discussion with families. My aim is always to offer the safest option with the best long-term outcome—whether that is surgery, neuromodulation, or advanced non-invasive planning.
